With thousands of frog designs, The Prince’s Rainforests Project team were amazed and delighted by the overwhelming response they had to the “Win a Tree-mendous Rainforest Frog” competition that was set up and co-ordinated by I Am Tomorrow.

Working in collaboration with Eco-Schools, the Scouts, Cool It Schools, the Big Draw, and Wild in Art the competition attracted over 12,500 designs in just four weeks from children in both primary and secondary schools across the UK.

Three designs were chosen  -  the Big Draw / Cool It Schools competition winner had decorated her frog with the nations flags. The idea behind her design was that the life of this rainforest frog affects the life of everyone in every country.  The Eco-Schools competition winner was a Rainforest Fire frog and the Scouts won with a floral frog.

However it was the effort and enthusiasm of so many children to engage with the competition that in the words of Jane Langley of Cool It School presented a visual petition of staggering proportions.

The winners have received giant frog sculptures to paint and their finished frogs will be part of an exhibition that moves from St. James’s Palace to the National Geographic Store in London and on to The Eden Project in Cornwall before they are returned to the winning schools and youth groups in 2010.

Any school or scout group that was not lucky enough to win a giant frog, which would make a long-term legacy reminder of their involvement with The Prince’s Rainforests Project, can buy them from Wild in Art charlie@wildinart.co.uk.

The Prince’s Rainforests Project for schools has looked to raise awareness among school-aged children about the value of the rainforests and the role they play in climate change.
