Generation Europe Foundation
The challenge
Generation Europe Foundation (GEF) aims to educate young people in the 27 member states of the EU to be better informed about their rights and responsibilities as European consumers and citizens.
The Project has three main communications objectives in the UK:
- To create content that links with the European Commission’s objectives that is clear and is relevant to UK students aged 14-18
- To raise awareness of its Europa/Wise Choices homework diaries
- To create additional projects that reach across the EU
What we did
We’ve worked with GEF and have raised their engagement levels significantly. In Year 1 we achieved a 40% level in the response rate. Each year we devise, develop and deliver a marketing campaign to UK secondary schools. In 4-6 weeks we receive orders for over 330,000 diaries. Our work for GEF includes advising on editorial content for consumer rights, health, environment, justice, trade and enterprise. We work closely with other commercial partners, GEF and the European Commission to bring new projects to EU member states.
What were the results?
Nearly a third of all UK secondary schools request copies of Generation Europe’s Wise Choices diaries. Over 330,000 students aged between 14 and 18 receive a copy for their own use.
This is some feedback we’ve had
“It has been fabulous to partner with I Am Tomorrow in the UK. Their understanding of the education market and marketing expertise has helped us raise the profile of our Europa Diaries far beyond our original expectations. Their enthusiasm to work with us on other projects across Europe is opening new avenues for us.”
Catie Thorburn. President Generation Europe Foundation
“Thank you. The extra content of the diaries is fast becoming the principle resource in our delivery of citizenship but there are aspects that are also very relevant to other areas.”
Geoff Farrell Hawley Place Senior School
“Once again thank you. We find them extremely useful. They raise awareness of European issues and increases our pupils’ development of international citizenship and ecological issues. We are also very aware of the Curriculum for Excellence, which is being rolled out in Scotland, and this helps us to develop our work.”
